Teaching AssistantThis term, in Literacy, we will be looking at sentence structure and basic writing, with a focus on letter formation in Handwriting. In Maths, we will examine place value and ordering numbers. Our topic in Science will be the seasons, while in History we will explore our homes, now and in the past.
In Geography, we will look at This is Britain. Children will have the chance to develop their skills in Art and DT classes, while our PHSE classes will encourage them to focus on their wellbeing.
Your child’s PE lesson will be on Monday and Friday. The children should bring in their PE kits in a labelled bag, then the PE kit can be left in school on their peg. The children need a white t-shirt, dark shorts and PE plimsols or trainers.
The children will be set homework on Class Dojo. You will get a notification once we start this. It will be set on a Friday and due in the following Friday. In the meantime, please ensure that your children are reading every night as part of their homework.
Please remember that the children’s home reading books will be set online on Oxford Owl. If you have any issues logging into your child’s oxford owl account, please see a member of the team ASAP.
The children need to log in and read at home every night, their reading record needs to be written in every night by an adult. The comments in the reading book can be anything related to your child’s reading. It can be something along the lines of ‘Ali read well today, he sounded out the words and we discussed different parts of the book.’
Towards the end of half term the children will also begin bringing home another book, this will be a sharing book that the children can read with an adult.
This term you are able to sign up to clubs on the Arbor App. There are instructions on how to do this on Class Dojo. Please read the instructions then sign your child up to any after school clubs that they may have an interest in. If you need any support with this please message us on Class Dojo.
The children will not need to bring in anything from home aside from a named water bottle, a packed lunch box (if they have a packed lunch) and a coat. The children should not bring in any toys or pencil cases from home as everything will provided by school.
In the morning, school doors will be open from 8.25am and the children can make their way to their classroom as soon as they arrive. Please say goodbye to the children away from the door and allow them to make their own way indoors. At home time, please wait for your child to be sent to you. If you need to wait for siblings, please wait against the back fence away from the doors.
